My 2 Year Old!

Lilly's two! She's so cute and proud and tells everyone, "I'm TWO!" I can't believe my baby is growing up so fast. It's so sad!!

She had a great birthday party on her birthday. We had 11 x 2 year old's over for a music party. Miss Madeline who teaches Lilly's Music Together class came to the house and taught a 45 minute music class. It was a fun time. The kids and parents had pizza, salad, and juice/beer/soda. Lilly wore a beautiful dress that will double as her Easter dress.

Lilly is such a great little girl. She's so funny and gets humor from others. She loves to play, read, jump, climb, relax on the couch with binky and lovey while watching TV, mimic, hide, and so much more. Her favorite game is Hide and Seek. She says, "Excuse me" and "Thanks Mom" all the time. It's really adorable and unprompted. She has a very strong personality which can be tough at times but usually it makes me smile. She is the apple of my eye (not to be cheesy) and I am so very happy that she's in our lives.

Poor Boo Boo Baby

Today Lilly had a bad fall. My cell phone picture doesn't do her injury justice! As I went to change her diaper before her nap she ran from me (surprise surprise) jumping up on the couch and doing a spastic front flip/dive off the couch onto the coffee table. Her head nailed the corner of the table. Her head hit so hard and it was so loud, I flung the diaper and wipes I was holding and swooped her up. I was expecting to see blood gushing and was ready to head to the ER but there was no blood and while I calmed her down and paced the floor saying, "Oh my gosh, oh my gosh" I noticed a huge purple lump forming. A little bit of panic and a phone call to Andy later and I decided to keep her home. Two lumps arose - one the size of a golf ball and one more like a marble. They both turned a deep purple. She eventually stopped crying. I tried to ice it but it only upset her more. Finally she started laughing and playing so I knew she was just fine. But what a scare for Mommy!!!

We have been very lucky so far with injuries...

Country Livin'

I went home to Richmond, VA for the long holiday weekend to see my family and attend my cousin's baby shower. Lilly and I made the trip alone and actually survived without Andy! There were many times that I really wished he was with me, that's for sure.

I enjoyed the baby shower and Lilly enjoyed seeing her family that she doesn't get to see often enough. She was a good sport but sleeping was a sore spot.

Lilly can climb out of a pack 'n play apparently. Once we discovered that I moved to Plan B: sleeping in the big bed - queen size. It took me almost 2 hours to get her to sleep because she kept getting out of the bed and jumping around. She thought it was a party. I was about to pull my hair out. Finally she slept but I didn't. She tosses and turns and puts her feet on her pillow, lays sprawled across the bed, etc. Finally at midnight I kicked her out and put her in the pack 'n play. At 4:40am there she was climbing out of the pack 'n play saying, "Where Papa?" and heading for the door 0f the bedroom. I grabbed her up and put her in bed with me and tried to get her to sleep for over an hour. Around 6am she fell asleep until 6:45 am and then was up for the day. I could go on and on but won't bore anyone with the details. Sleep was an issue but she eventually figured it out and slept well in a big bed.

We had a good time and I'm glad we went.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Today Lilly had a Valentine's party with 10 of her friends. We all had a great time! Abby, Nate, Elijah, Isaac, Jordan, Gabriel, Michael, Caden, Will, and Colin came for the party. If you notice there was only one other girl and she is 3.5 years old. I've known Abby's mom since before we had kids. All the new moms I've met have boys! And Lilly plays much much better with boys so it's actually a blessing.

The kids played beautifully. There wasn't one disagreement to settle, no crying, and nothing broken! The children played while the moms chatted. The kids had heart-shaped pizza, grapes, pretzels, juice and heart-shaped cupcakes. The adults nibbled on pizza and grapes and had coffee and soft drinks. Each child brought a new, wrapped book and they all left with a new book and a goody bag. It really was cute. Of course I took some pictures to capture the day.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's Day.

Sneaky Little Girl

I didn't capture this on camera but today my sweet little girl was caught in action! I was on the phone making an appointment. She was on the end of the couch and I was sitting in the center of the couch. There was a pillow between us that was flat against the back of the couch. As I'm talking I realize that I don't see Lilly with my peripheral vision and so I turn to look at her. As I turn my head the very very slow movement of the pillow catches my eye. I see Lilly's legs and feet but not her head! As I turn to look the movement stops and nothing seems interrupted (but where's her head?).

I pull the pillow forward and look behind it. Lilly is leaning behind the pillow, head down, frozen in time when she sees me looking. Her hand moves ever so slightly. I catch a glimpse of something then it's gone. Her eyes aren't moving but are cut to the side. She starts to smirk.

I say, "What are you doing?" and she says, "Nuttin".

Then I see it! She has snuck the 2 suckers out of the Valentine's treat bag from Papa and Kay. She is holding them down low and covering them with her other hand.

I say, "No way! Are you crazy?" She laughs, I laugh, she hands over the suckers and we continue to giggle. Secretly I'm thinking, "I'm so dead in 15 years!"

Lilly Lu

Lilly is starting to have an opinion on what she wears and it's so cute!! Some days she wants to stay in her pajamas all day and some days she wants part of her pajamas on and a pair of pants or shirt along with it. Last week Lilly wanted to wear hand-me-down rain boots to music. Ironically it was supposed to rain that day and it looked alright with her outfit. Everyone told her they liked them so she was glowing. She wore them all day long. Oh, did I mention they are 1.5 sizes too big? Yes, that was a bit of a problem since they kept falling off when she wasn't standing.

We know she's got attitude and is going to be strong-willed so for now we're trying to embrace it.

Good Friends

Lilly and I have made so many new friends. All of Lilly's new friends are little boys and I enjoy their moms so much. Most of them are from Lilly's Music Together class that she's been taken for over a year and a few are from her nursery school class. It's really nice to get our kids together for playdates. The kids destroy the house while we chat and eat bagels and drink coffee (coke for me!).

Recently we had over Jordan, Nate, and Abby to play. I have known Nate and Abby's mom Lisa since before kids so she's an old friend! We don't get to see each other much so it was nice to get a chance last week to spend time together. Getting the kids to pose for a picture was funny as you can see...

I am grateful to have wonderful friends - some old, some new - to keep me company while we watch our kids grow. Life is good.

Ill

I'm so sick. I haven't been sick in a long time. I have what I would describe as a sinus infection, asthma, and the flu all rolled nicely into one illness. Finally got an antibiotic today so hopefully on the road to recovery. Until then, I cannot maneuver into the basement to upload pictures for the blog. It would take way too much energy.
