Bribery at its finest

Today was not one of my proudest moments as a mom but hey, I'm only human and just scraping by these days! Lilly's been having trouble controlling herself in her activities each week so today I thought if I bribed her we might have an uneventful music class. While at CVS picking up a prescription I let her pick out any treat she wanted. She chose a bag of Jelly Belly jelly beans. I told her if she didn't hit, push, or spit at music she could have some on the way home. In my head I'm thinking 'hey this just might work! I'll whisper in her ear when she's getting out of control - hey, remember the jelly beans!'. We get to music and she's happily in the back seat holding her jelly beans (unopened of course) saying, "No hit, no poosh, no speet" and smiling away. I'm like, "This is GREAT! It's working! Who the hell cares if it's the bottom of the barrel parenting?!"

Enter Mommy and Lilly to music.

"Oh Lilly you look so cute!"

"I love your pigtails - she's sooo cute!"

"Hi Lilly we're so glad you're here!"

Music begins. Lilly sitting on Mommy's lap just like she's done for 17 months.

All hell breaks loose.

Lilly's running over to each child tickling them and screeching, lying on her back rolling around, yanking a string of carpet and running with it until there's a long gaping hole in the carpet, hitting, pushing, one spit, and body checking a 12 month old...

Time out in the hallway.

Mommy - "Lilly, you need to be a good listener. We don't hit and push it's not nice"

Lilly - "Not nice Mommy"

Mommy - "Remember the jellybeans Lilly?"

Lilly - "Ynummy jelly beans Mommy"

Mommy - "So when we go back inside you'll listen to Miss Madeline and will be a nice girl?"

Lilly - "Ok Mommy nice Lilly"

Lilly and Mommy enter the classroom.

Lilly runs in circles, hits Caden with a drum stick, hits another mother, and starts to cry and request binky and lovey.

Exit Mommy and Lilly.

No jelly beans, no binky in car, no lovey in car. Drive home in silence.

Pull in driveway.

Lilly - "I sowwy Mommy"

Mommy - "Mommy loves you Lilly. Thank you for saying your sorry but how about next week we just skip music?"

Lilly - "Ok Mommy"

I'm BACK!

Well, it's been a whole month since I've blogged and I have to apologize! As some of you know and many of you don't know, I am finally pregnant with a little sibling for Lilly! I am 11.5 weeks along and baby is doing well. I disappeared off the face of blogging land because I was very very sick with this pregnancy. I am now feeling better.

Not too much has changed in our lives. I am pregnant. Lilly is a bit more difficult to manage but we're working on it. Other than that it's the same old thing each day. Living for the day and thanking God for the blessings in our lives.

I will be uploading some pictures soon. Our computer that holds all of our photos is not connecting to the internet and when I can figure that out I'll be sure to share some pictures.
