Happy Easter (a little late)

Lilly really enjoyed Easter this year though just as with Christmas - she wasn't into any toys that were in her basket. She'd much rather eat candy. She's a total sugar/candy addict. She'll do anything to get her hands on candy. So the Easter Bunny must have known that because there wasn't much candy in her basket!

We had a nice day. We went to church, ate breakfast with Babcia, and then went to a friend's house for dinner and had a delicious dinner. Lilly and Jordan had an Easter egg hunt before dinner and Lilly ran around and took every single egg in the yard leaving Jordan with none. Why? Because she saw Andy and I fill them with candy... Jordan gets scared of Lilly and the few eggs he did pick up he put in her basket for her. He knows she'll just take them from him! Of course I'm working on this with her but I fear it will be a long long road. Until then thank goodness for great friends that love and understand Lilly.

Easter Celebration at St. Andrew's

Lilly celebrated Easter at her nursery school. They did all sorts of egg activities, made an Easter basket, and had an Easter egg hunt. It was a good time. She insisted on wearing her new pink boots that Carla gave her. She's too much. Just finished her Easter Egg Hunt and ready to go home! It was hard to explain to her that she could only find 4 eggs!!!

Easter Egg Hayride

This weekend Andy, Lilly and I went on an Easter Egg Hayride at Springdale Farm. It was a lot of fun! We were pulled by the tractor out to a big field where eggs were hidden and the children got to find them and take them back to the farm for a goody bag and strawberry plant! Lilly had so much fun riding on the hayride and looking for eggs. She also got to sit up on the big tractor and pretend to drive! When we got back to the farm she even saw the Easter Bunny. She was a little scared so Mommy posed with her for a picture.

We had gorgeous weather - 65 degrees and sunny. Can't wait to see what the Easter Bunny will bring next weekend!

Sweet Killian

Last week I had to say goodbye to my cat Killian. I got Killian when I was a junior in college and she went through so much with me! She was there for me when my mom died, when I got married, got my first job, first car, divorced, new job, new marriage, baby... It was the hardest thing in the world to have to say goodbye. She had become very sick and was not eating, was vomiting, and couldn't jump or run. Her quality of life had deteriorated.
Before I said goodbye Lilly and I spent the morning with her taking some pictures, giving her her favorite meal and treats, and loving up on her. I know that she's in a better place where it's always warm and she can run and play all day! I miss her every single minute of the day. I miss cuddling with her at night and spending time with her during the day. Tomorrow would have been her 13th birthday. She was a great cat and I will always remember our years together. Happy Birthday Killian!

Never Again

Today Lilly and I met a friend and her son for lunch at a McDonald's Playland. I will NEVER EVER go there again. Well ok, at least not in the next 2 years or so! Lilly has been there once before and was too timid to go in the huge tunnel contraption. Well today she took one bite of her burger and ran from the table. Before I could scooch out of the booth she was halfway up the big huge tunnel thingamajig. She was happy and smiling and stopping in all the little end tunnels that she could see out of. She waved and I waved and all was good in the world.

The second time she ventured into the thing 2 minutes later I hear screaming and crying and I know it's Lilly. There were tons of kids - big kids too - climbing up and yelling while they made their way through the tunnels. I guess this scared Lilly. So up I go in my big clunky Uggs crawling through a maze of tunnels until finally I find her sitting there crying. I take her down the big twisty slide feeling so sorry for her and sure that was her last trip up.

We settle back down in our seat and before I know it she's gone again and running circles around the monstrous thing. I'm cool with that since about 15 other kids were doing the same thing. Suddenly, she takes a sharp right and zoom! she's gone up the steps again. Well I'm over it. I pack up our stuff, my friend (with her startled timid son) packs up hers and I tell her to go ahead and go. Suddenly I see out of the corner of my eye a flying binky that lands on someone's table. Lilly had gone up with her binky and lovey (which I was bribing her with to stay at our table) and was disgarding things as she went through. Lo and behold (do I ever learn?) I hear crying - loud hysterical crying - all the mothers are looking around... "Is that your child?" "No, is it yours", etc. This time I see Lilly with her face smooshed up against the mesh play thingamajig and I instruct her to come back down the steps if she's scared. Well this makes her cry harder so some mother tells her son to go up and get the little girl named "Lilly" and bring her down. When he gets up there I hear, "Hi Lilly come with me baby" and then " WAHHHHHHHHH" so up I go again.

Let me tell you something. It is hot and cramped and claustrophobic and disgusting in those things. I am army crawling past tons of kids until I find Lilly. Do you know girls are hanging out in the tunnels? Sitting sideways eating fruit snacks and chatting? No wonder half the kids come back down the way the went up - they can't navigate through. Well I'm telling them to move I need to get my baby and when I find her she has 1. no binky 2. no lovey 3. no shoes (which yes she broke the rules and was crawling through with them on. Now I have to try to navigate with Lilly under my arm and find these missing items. I tried to pretend I was on a scavenger hunt but since I could hardly breathe and was sweating profusely (did I mention the down vest I was wearing with the Uggs?) it didn't seem fun no matter what I imagined.

By the time I got to the bottom I had Lilly, her shoes, her binky, her lovey, and another crying child in my arms. My shins were bruised (those play things hurt big time) and I was completely whooped.

And that is why I will never ever visit another playland in my life.

My Little Helper

Lilly loves to clean! She pulls a chair up to the kitchen sink and gets to work. It's really cute.

Recovered

Well it's been a while since I've been able to blog since Lilly has been so sick. Like Mommy, Lilly has trouble fighting off colds. Finally, this last cold got the best of her and turned into a sinus infection. A few days into the sinus infection we learned she's allergic to penicillin and had our first visit with an allergist. A new antibiotic, some nasal spray, and an inhaled (nebulizer) steroid later and she's all better! Thank goodness. It's horrible watching your baby feel sick.

Last night Lilly had her first bath with a friend! The only thing cuter than a baby in the bath is two babies in the bathtub! Oh my gosh, they were adorable. We watched a friend's son while she had a doctor's appointment and it was Lilly's bedtime so I bathed them both. I wasn't sure what I'd do with Jordan if I didn't put him in the bathtub with Lilly. Lilly being the little mommy that she loves to be helped clean Jordan and wash his hair. She also taught him how to fish with our fishing bath toy. Of course I caught it all on film.

Hopefully spring's around the corner and everyone will be
feeling better and getting outside to enjoy some fresh air!
