Spontaneity

Being spontaneous as a mother is not one of my strong points. I am, and have been, very rigid with nap times, travel, and schedules. I have soul searched and tried to break free from the guilt chains but have had very little success (when I consider having my kids skip a nap I feel immense guilt).

Well today I did it! I up and threw the family in the car and headed to see my sweet friend Krissy about an hour away. She traveled from Minnesota to meet her sisters for a weekend of scrapbooking at a scrapping workshop. We couldn't stand the thought of being so close and not seeing one another.

Unfortunately my family is used to our very similar schedule and had a little difficulty adapting to Momma's little adventure and Krissy witnessed some very loud meltdowns.  For that I am sorry but I am so glad we went!! It was a great little visit and always leaves me longing for more time with such a dear friend.

After leaving Krissy's hotel we headed to the nearby beach in Atlantic City. The kids got to see the ocean and look at some shells. It was chilly but I didn't mind. I love the ocean!

After getting in the car all 4 kiddos promptly passed out and I quietly patted myself on the back for letting go for a change.

Sickness

All of our kids (except Ella for now) are sick with a fever/cold virus. Luke started with it last week but had gotten progressively worse until yesterday when he became very ill.  His fever was back, his eyes looked terrible, he wasn't eating or drinking, and he was very sleepy.

He fell asleep in the morning watching TV on the couch.
I put him in his bed and a couple of hours later I went to check on him and almost tripped on him at the top of the steps! He's climbed out of bed and was sleeping in the hallway.
He slept there for another couple of hours.

By the time I took him to his
Though his lungs sounded alright, our doctor sent us for a chest X-ray which showed that he has pneumonia (which he had a milder case of a month ago).

I feel so sorry for our little guy but am grateful there's a diagnosis and he was able to start a strong antibiotic to get rid of the infection. pediatrician appointment he was lethargic. It was so sad.

Friends

Friendships are such a blessing in our lives. Lilly and her best friend Lindsay have been friends most of their lives. I am so happy Lilly not only found a wonderful friend but one who lives down the street as well. Even though they are very newly 7 years young, they're growing up in a fast-paced world of technology. When they're not together they're texting or face-timing one another from their iPads. I'm afraid to think about what their lives will be like in 5 or 10 years.

For now I will relish the beauty of such a dear friendship that I hope will last a very long time...

Beautiful Day

This day was gorgeous! Bright and sunny and a wonderful breath of fresh air. The boys are both under the weather but were able to play outside for a while.

Oliver enjoyed himself as well...
The boys perked up a bit this afternoon.
I would love a repeat of today's weather for tomorrow. Days like this fill me with hope and joy.

Test 123

I am trying to blog from my phone thinking this will make it easier to update the blog! The amount of time it takes me to plug in my phone and download all my pictures and videos and then pick the ones for the blog is too time consuming at this point in time. In the past I couldn't upload blog from my phone but tonight it seems to be semi-working!

The kids are growing so fast and there's so much to share in updates. This picture is what my sweet boys were doing one say when I was on the treadmill. So cute!

Hopefully I can continue blogging on a regular basis. Forgive the typos as it's late and I'm typing on my phone.
