I didn't have my laptop for 6 days.
My cell phone died yesterday and is beyond repair.
They will mail me a new one in 2 days. That's 3 days without a cell phone.
On one hand it has been relaxing and on the other hand I felt completely out of touch.
To top all of this off this was my day today:
I had a very poor night's sleep so I woke up running on empty.
Got the girls ready and out of the house by 8:30 and to DMV in another town 20 minutes away by 9:00 a.m. I was prepared and armed for success. I had drinks, snacks, books, stuffed animals, and all of my documentation. I have been putting off this DMV trip for weeks. I have to get duplicate titles to Marcel's cars so I can sell them and we close on his house in less than a week so the cars need to go.
I spent 15 minutes in line at the first desk. I filled out all the paperwork and waited another 20 minutes in line at the second counter. The lady was lovely but informed me I needed another specific document which I do not have (the attorney has it). I wanted to cry. I told her I'm expecting twins (I'm huge) and she could see the girls both fussing in the stroller. She felt badly but there was nothing she could do.
So the trip was a waste of time and these days I can do very little so I was very upset.
From DMV I headed another 20 minutes to the Verizon Wireless store to get my cell phone fixed. I unloaded the very heavy stroller again and put the girls in but this time I didn't have anymore snacks and they were both hot and irritated. The technician told me to wait 20 minutes while she tried some maneuver to fix the phone. She said if it didn't work they would have to send out for a new phone as there are no Blackberry Tours in a 50 mile vicinity (is this possible?).
I told Lilly to say a prayer and she did; a loud one.
"GOD!?!? Please make my mommy's phone work again so we can call Lindsay and have a play date. Amen."
The phone did not reset and she ordered me a new one.
She told me it would be 2 days. Great.
From there I headed home to feed the kids and call Apple to find out how my laptop was doing. The man at Apple said, "We called you the day you dropped it off; it's ready." They did not call me but hey, I was just glad it was ready.
Back out with the girls to Apple where he couldn't find my laptop and we waited 30 minutes while Ella tried to destroy every Apple device she could reach and Lilly played a Dora computer game. He finally found the laptop and we were off.
For some strange reason I decided to press my luck and go into Pottery Barn Kids to get a lamp shade for the boys' room. It was on the way into the store I realized Ella had pooped in the Apple store and my diapers were in the pool bag from the weekend. We walked into Pottery Barn Kids to feel that the AC was clearly broken (it's 88 and high humidity today) and not only was it broken the heat was kicking! I was already very maxed out and hot, Ella had poop in her diaper, and they were out of the lamp shade.
I decided the day couldn't get much worse so I took Ella's diaper off, cleaned her up, and took her home diaperless. She made it thankfully!
It's days like this that terrify me when thinking of adding 2 more babies but I know my day was not really bad in the scheme of things and I should feel blessed and happy that I have my family, am expecting baby boys, and we're all healthy.
