I love a good dance recital! I swear I'm probably the only person that would choose to go sit and watch a recital. In fact, just last week I met my friend Kristen at her daughter's recital on 2 consecutive nights - just for fun!

What wasn't great was leaving Ella! I was so sad to leave her at her bedtime but she was in good hands and Jackie was excited to spend some time with her. She ended up doing just fine.
There was a lot of traffic on the way. I was totally stressed in the car. We were supposed to be there by 7 p.m. and at 6:30 p.m. we'd only traveled about 3 miles (we left right around 6 p.m.). We had about 20 more miles to go! We did end up making it by about 7:10 p.m. and Lilly's dance was at 7:30 p.m. All was well! I think I probably gave Andy a heart attack in the car but he handled it well reminding me there was nothing we could do.I took Lilly in and we got her ready and within minutes a teacher took her by the hand and swooped her off and we headed to our seats. Her first dance was ballet...

I was crying from laughing and crying from the sheer innocence and cuteness of the whole thing. Andy says I really shouldn't have been waving back at her but when your 3 year old is waving at you from stage how can you not?? Plus, it's really his fault for getting us such great seats so that Lilly could actually see us!
After her ballet dance Andy and I went back into the cafeteria to change Lilly and to hang with her until it was time for her to go line up for her jazz dance. She sure did get her exercise during this dance!

After her dances were done she came into the audience and watched a few dances with us (she got to see her teacher Miss Tiffany dance) and then we headed home. I had no idea Andy had to go back out to Mt. Misery after the recital (he's been staying there all week with his 6th graders - he does this twice a year) to try to sleep before starting his day again tomorrow. And we needed to let Jackie get home since she had been at our house on a work night for 4 hours.Lilly stayed up the whole car ride home eating pretzels and watching TV. 11 p.m. is by far the latest she's ever been to bed and I'm curious what the morning will bring...
Update: I wrote this post late last night and I'll tell you what the nighttime/morning brought! Lilly was up by 1a.m. with the Croup cough and then again at 3 a.m. crying with the cough. She said her chest hurt so I put her into bed with me. In between that I was feeding Ella. There was not a lot of sleep going on but I'm happy to report that Ella did great with Jackie and Lilly went to the doctor and she's doing well too (just needs her nebulizer treatments). Both girls are now napping and I'm headed up to lie down.
