Dentist!!

Today we celebrated Babcia's 69th birthday. We made her a cake and Lilly helped decorate it. She decided to put a whole box of candles on it.
Proud of her accomplishment!
After making the cake and getting ready we headed out to Lilly's first dentist appointment. I had not done a lot of talking about this appointment since she has displayed some anxiety in other various situations. She does go with me to the orthodontist so I thought she'd be ok. And my orthodontist, Dr. Foley, talked to her yesterday about her dentist visit. The waiting room was stocked with toys and Lilly was thrilled.
Lilly hopped right in the chair - they were impressed! She got to brush the big teeth.
The doctor was really GREAT - she definitely found her calling. She showed Lilly all her tools and explained what each one does. She had a real knack in making Lilly feel at ease. They let kids sit on a parent's lap if they need to but Lilly was doing so well that they left her on her own. I can't say enough about Dr. Fran...
While most of the appointment went very well the end was pretty hairy... I was unaware that they would be doing a full cleaning and Lilly got very freaked out about the water and suction tools (understandably) and got pretty hysterical at the end and they had to hold her down a bit and it was hard to watch :-(. After it was all said and done the doctor talked with me while the nurses took Lilly to pick out a toy. She came back very happy and I'm hoping we won't have a problem when we return in July!

Here's the toy she picked out... It pops inside out and shoots straight up.
We then picked up lunch and took it to Babcia so we could celebrate her big day. Lilly of course sang "Happy Birthday" in her best singing voice and then helped her blow out her candles. Lilly LOVES the birthday song and blowing out candles. Andy and I have been known to light and relight candles on Lilly's food while we sing over and over again pretending it's her birthday!
Where was Ella through this all? Asleep like an angel in her carrier...
